Esports contracts for pro players, teams and creators
A good contractis a permanent buff.
A badly written contract usually costs a lot later. I draft and review player, team, creator and sponsorship contracts, with care for image rights, exclusivity, pay and termination.

FAQ about games and esports lawyers
FAQ
01What should an esports player contract include?
Conduct rules in and out of competition, streaming rules, a buyout clause if the player leaves for another team, a proportional penalty if either party terminates without cause, and penalties for breaking event or platform rules.
02What are my rights without a written contract?
Verbal agreements or deals made over messages can also be enforced, including in court, if you can prove what was agreed.
03Is an esports player an employee?
It depends on how the relationship works in practice. Brazil’s General Sports Law (Law 14,597/2023) brought new rules, and each contract needs to be reviewed.
04Can a minor sign?
As a rule they need a parent or guardian to assist or represent them, and the contract must provide for it.
05Can you help set up an association, team or league?
Yes. I handle bylaws, minutes, registration and tax ID, plus the rules and contracts so the team or league starts out properly set up.
06How do fees work?
Fees depend on the service and how complex the case is. They are set out in writing after the first conversation, following the Brazilian Bar fee table, with no surprises along the way.
07Do I need to visit an office?
No. Everything happens online: video calls, document sharing and digital signature of the engagement letter and power of attorney.
